Frederick Schiller Faust (May 29, 1892 – May 12, 1944) was an American author known primarily for his thoughtful and literary Westerns under the pen name Max Brand.Max Brand is a master story teller and a great western writer. Westerns by Max Brand contains The Dan Barry Series and 10 other classic Max Brand tales, pure Old West adventures.
Brand's stories, however, tend to have a slightly different, hard-to-define "feel" to them. His characters are smoother, tougher, faster, meaner, than anybody else around. Perhaps this is because Brand's heroes are frequently loners either in pursuit of someone who has wronged them or on the run from themselves (that is to say, from their consciences due to some past indiscretion, real or perceived).very introspective.
